Popular Tamil actress Vindhya and her husband Gopi alias Gopalakrishnan (younger brother of yesteryear heroine Bhanupriya) on Monday filed for divorce on grounds of mutual consent in a family court in Chennai.
Vindhya and Gopi, who entered wedlock in February 2008, sought to end their marital relationship under Section 13(b) of the Hindu Marriage Act, 1955, before T C S Raja Chockalingam, judge, principal family court.
The couple approached the court earlier separately. Now that they have filed for divorce on mutual consent, it is expected that the case would come to an end soon. The petition is likely to be taken for hearing in a day or two.
Vindhya made her acting debut in ‘Sangamam’ in the late 1990s. She was popular for films such as ‘Thirunelveli’, ‘Red’ and ‘Viswanathan Ramamoorthy’. Gopi had acted in a movie titled ‘Vaakkumoolam’.
