US in an attempt to coax Sri Lanka with trade?

The US is looking forward to expand trade and investment in Sri Lanka, said a senior official at a dialogue on proposed bilateral Trade and Investment Framework Agreement between the countries.

Reports reveal that top US firms are also cashing in on key projects in a bid to support energy and transportation needs, said Valerie Fowler, US Embassy Chargé d’Affaires.

The US eased the restrictions imposed on defense sales to the country to permit exports of equipment for maritime and aerial surveillance to the Sri Lankan navy and coast guard, said Valerie Fowler.

The remarks come at the backdrop of a US moved resolution against Sri Lanka to probe into the alleged war crimes committed against the Lankan Tamils in the country.
