Sri Lankan military seizes agricultural lands form Trincomalee Tamils in massive scale

More than 25,000 acres of lands belonging to Eezham Tamils have been seized through Sinhala militarisation in the three DS divisions of 11 DS areas of Trincomalee district, informed civil sources told TamilNet on Friday. The occupation has been going on through the last 6 years. Now, the Colombo government has blocked water supplies to Eezham Tamils at Maavilaa’ru, diverting the water to the occupied lands where Sinhalese are deployed by the military to do agriculture in Moothoor division.

The Maavilaa’ru water reaching Mallikath-theevu is blocked at a Gate called Dehiwatte Ranathunga, Tamil civil sources in Trincomalee told TamilNet.

293 acres of agricultural lands have been given to Sinhalese in the villages, Mallikaith-theevu, Akaththiyaa-vanam and Muthalai-madu, the sources further said.

10,000 acres of agricultural lands have been seized from Eezham Tamils and provided to Sinhalese in Kuchchave’li DS division. Sinhalese doing agriculture with SL military backing in Moothoor division have occupied 9,000 acres and in Eachchampattu DS division 4,000 acres have been seized for agriculture by the SL military backed agriculture.

Meanwhile, another attempt was made by the Colombo government to survey Tamil lands at Arisi-malai area in Pulmoaddai 10 days ago. However, the residents foiled the attempt through a protest, the sources further said.
