‘Kullir 100 Degree’ songs are of hit variety

image When Parthiban said the climate will change to hot when ‘Kullir 100 Degree’ gets released, one understood when the songs were screened.

This film is directed by Anita Udeep, who caught everyone’s attention with her song "azhagiya asura" in ‘Whistle.’ She has also directed an Indo-English film ‘Knock Knock I’m looking to marry.’  Anita is a multi-faceted woman who is a singer, composer, director and a Bharatanatyam dancer. She is the daughter of Chandrasekar of Penta Media.

The essence of the story is the love and tiffs between students of Lake View School set on a beautiful mountain side. It stars all newcomers. Music is by Bobo Sashi, who is a relative of composer Thenisai Thendral Deva. He’s actually the son of Deva’s younger brother Murali. Cinematography is by LK Vijay, an assistant of Arvind Krishna.

The audio release took place today at Chennai. The songs were released by editor Lenin and accepted by Abhirami Ramanathan. The songs were performed live. Since Simbu did not come for the function, the song he had sung was rendered by ‘Subramaniapuram’ fame Jai.

It was interesting to hear Deva’s explanation about how Sashi, who looks like a West Indian cricketer, became a composer.

"My son as well as my brother’s sons are not very strong in studies. We want to give our children a good education. But they all seem to be failing all the time. Sashi wrote one letter and flummoxed his dad (Murali). His elder brother Srikanth is no great shakes either. But is he not a great music director now? Is what he had asked his dad in the letter. Somehow, just as he had said, and without our help, he has become a music director," said Deva as the audience burst into laughter.
