image The era has ended. Nagesh, synonymous to comedy in the dictionary of Tamil cinema is no more. It has shocked the Tamil fraternity and film-lovers alike. The Tamil film industry in chorus condoled Nagesh’s death. Check out what the film artistes had to say about Nagesh, the man who made millions laugh fior the last fifty years.

Kamal Haasan: He was like my father. A man who showed dignity and dedication towards his profession is no more. I shared a lot with him.The moment that we spend together still lingers in my heart. After Sivaji Ganesan, he was the person whom I revered the most. I look back at movies that we worked together and with burdened heart miss him today.

Vivek : He was an inspiration for all comedians. He set an example for us venturing to play lead roles. Skilled at both slapstick and stand-up comedy, his sheer presence on screen evoked humour.

Manorama: I had acted with Nagesh in over 100 films. I am shocked and speechless. In his death I have lost a good friend of mine. I am yet to recover from the demise of Nambiar. Now Nagesh’s death has come as a double blow. His roles are unforgettable. He was a friend and a guide to me.

R Sarath Kumar: The film industry has lost its leading light. A source of courage and inspiration for younger generation, I recall with tears my long-standing association with him. I express my regret to several thousand fans of the actor across the globe and pray that his soul rests in peace.

Cho Ramaswamy: Nagesh is always Nagesh. He was a man of integrity and he evoked humour and brought freshness in our films. His variations and the skill to play varied roles always amazed me.
