Nayantara barred from acting in Tamil films?

image Is this possible? Can Kollywood even imagine this? Will fans ever allow it to happen?! Now, before you think this is one of our gimmicks, where we would finally reveal that we were just fooling, we confirm that the talk of the town is that Tamil Nadu Producers’ Council and Nadigar Sangam have issued a statement, asking producers not to sign Nayantara for future projects! Even we could not believe it when we heard it. Apparently this decision comes in the wake of producer Subash Chandra Bose’s complaint that Nayantara refused to return the signing amount for Paiya, from which she backed off. Nayantara’s contention is that she let go several film offers – jeopardizing her position in Kollywood and incurring a huge loss – during the unusually long wait for Lingusamy’s directorial venture Paiya, starring Karthi, to take off. Paiya was delayed due to the unending schedule of Karthi’s film Aayirathil Oruvan, directed by Selvaraghavan, starring Reema Sen and Andrea.

Though Nayantara has not confirmed the news of the ban, it is heard that the Tamil Nadu Producers’ Council has also asked the Malayalam and Telugu film industries to blacklist the actress. Nayantara is now doing Bodyguard in Malayalam opposite Dileep and a Telugu film with Junior NTR. She is also rumoured to have been considered for K.S. Ravikumar’s next project opposite Suriya.

In the past, several actors refused to return the signing amounts after they backed off – some had justifiable reasons, while others did not. In Nayantara’s case, the reason is justifiable; a heroine cannot afford to lose so many film offers in this competitive industry. And besides, Nayantara is a highly professional and talented actress and therefore should be considered as a special case. Maybe that is the reason the complainants are softening their stand! Yes, the latest we hear is that Subash and Linguswamy are ready to reduce the amount they are demanding from Nayan.
