SLA hands over body of Tamil farmer to Vaazhaichcheanai hospital

Sri Lanka Army (SLA) soldiers in Paduvaankarai in Batticaloa district handed the body of a Tamil farmer Friday morning to Vaazhaichcheanai hospital claiming that he had committed suicide by taking poison, sources in Batticaloa said. Vaazhaichcheanai district magistrate who held the inquest into the death ordered Vaazhaichcheanai police to find the true cause of death and submit the report before 12 February.

The farmer was identified as Ilayathamby Nadarasa, a resident of Pe’ndukal Cheanai in Paduvaankarai.
Meanwhile, SLA handed over Wednesday the bodies of two youths shot and killed by SLA in Unnichchai area to Batticaloa Teaching Hospital.

The two bodies remain unidentified.

Residents of Paduvaankarai said that the SLA soldiers are forcing all the people who have resettled in Paduvaankarai to locate to the town area claiming that the presence of Liberation Tigers of Tamil of Eelam combatants has increased in Paduvaankarai.
