30 tonnes of food for 300,000 – Ilamparithi

ilamparuthy_200 Pressurised by international opinion, Colombo government allowed Wednesday transportation of a meager amount of food – 30 tonnes – for a population of 300,000 on Wednesday, said LTTE’s Puthukkudiyiruppu Political Head C. Ilamparithi. "When distributed the amount each one would be getting is 100 grams: roughly 66 grams of flour, 20 grams of Dahl and 14 grams of sugar per person," he said blaming Colombo for ‘eyewash’.

 

Mr. Ilamparithi was present to monitor the humanitarian supplies received by the government officials in Vanni.

20 Metric Tons (MT) flour, 6 MT Dahl and 4 MT sugar were allowed by the Sri Lankan government into Vanni on Wednesday, according to Multi-Purpose Cooperative Society (MPCS) workers.

Meanwhile, Sri Lankan Commissioner of Essential Services S.B. Divaratne claimed Wednesday in Colombo that the government had allowed 40 MT Food and medical supplies to Vanni. However, officials in Vanni said there was no medical supplies allowed by Colombo.
