Call it a fairytale. Call it a dream come true. Asin is the new rage of Bollywood after her helluva launch in Aamir Khan’s Ghajini. Though the actress has already won a lot of critical acclaim on the south side of the Vindhyas, this is the first time she is doing it on its northern quarters. First, it were the raving reviews. Then, the accolades started coming in. And now, it is raining awards on the actress!
Yes! Asin has been once again crowned as the new face of Bollywood by the prestigious Filmfare awards jury – she has bagged the Filmfare Award for Best Sensational Debut in Ghajini at the the recently held 54th Idea Filmfare Awards.
Ask her what was the most memorable moment at the Awards function – a small chit-chat and words of praise from the Big Bachchan himself! “The icing on the cake was when Amitabh ji congratulated me and told me that even if he did not get the chance to watch Ghajini, he has heard so much about my performance. I was speechless and consider it a big compliment which I will treasure forever”, says a gushing Asin.
But what about the Black Lady? How happy is she with her? “In a way, it is a reversal of timelines. The last time I was holding this Black Lady was when I won her as the Best Actress for Ghajini (Tamil) and today, I am getting her for my Best Debut in the same film in Hindi. Its weird in a way, but fun and refreshing all the same” said the actress who won hearts with her vibrant, chirpy performance in Ghajini.
Elaborating more on the ovation she has been receiving from Bollywood, Asin said, “Everybody in Bollywood like Aishwarya, Preity and Sushmita welcomed me with open arms. I’m really honoured, overwhelmed and absolutely on top of the world to win this award for the third time.”
The actress paraded the Filmfare red carpet in a dashing Diane Von Furstenberg with a Bottega Veneta Clutch. The Slumdog kids thronged her after the function, congratulated her and clicked photos with her.
