Jaya to go on fast on March 10 over Lankan Tamils issue

AIADMK leader J Jayalalithaa will observe a day-long fast here on March 10, pressing the Centre to bring about an immediate ceasefire in Sri Lanka.

Announcing a state-wide protest, the former Tamil Nadu chief minister in a release here today said other prominent leaders of the party would lead the fast in the district headquarters.

Charging the central government and the DMK, a constituent of the ruling UPA, with "failing to ensure ceasefire," in (the northern parts of) Sri Lanka, Jayalalithaa said the fast was aimed at pressing the Centre to immediately ensure a ceasefire, besides "expressing complete solidarity with the Sri Lankan Tamils."
