Sri Lankan government forces on Monday found 50 bodies of Tamil Tiger rebels after a fresh battle in the north-east of the country, army spokesman Udaya Nanayakkara said.

"We have this morning found the bodies of at least 50 Tigers after yesterday’s fighting," he said. "Security forces also lost a few soldiers and a few more were wounded."
