Karunanidhi rebukes PMK chief

Hopes of Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) coming back to the DMK-led DPA in Tamil Nadu receded as Chief Minister and DMK President M Karunanidhi launched a blistering attack against PMK founder leader Dr S Ramadoss, accusing him of dropping the Lankan Tamils issue and getting busy bargaining seats for the Lok Sabha elections.

On Dr Ramadoss’s charge that he (Mr Karunanidhi) had washed his hands off on the Lankan Tamils issue citing India’s sovereignity, Mr Karunanidhi said those who are in the Sri Lankan Tamils Protection Committee had now stopped talking about Mullaitivu, Vavuniya and Kilinochi.

They were now seriously discussing about seat sharing for the Lok Sabha elections.

To give an impression that they were serious about the Lankan Tamils issue, people like Dr Ramadoss were issuing statements one in the morning and another in the evening, while being busy bargaining for seats.

These leaders were discussing round the clock ”who will get Tirunelveli, Tiruchirapalli and Chidambaram Lok Sabha seats.

Whether they will get Thiruvannamalai or Arani or both, whether the deal included a Rajya Sabha seat or not”, the DMK leader said sarcastically, referring to PMK’s ongoing deal with the AIADMK for striking an alliance.
