20 lorries arrive at Jaffna through A9 land route

Twenty lorries including two cooler vehicles transporting around 20 metric tonnes goods to private traders in Jaffna arrived at Naavatkuzhi Government ware house Thursday around 2:30 p.m through A9 land route, sources in Jaffna said. Two weeks ago lorries had brought goods to Jaffna through A9 road for the first time after a long period.

The goods brought were unloaded around 8:30 p.m and they are expected to reach the shops in Jaffna Friday, Jaffna Secretariat officials said.

Plans are afoot to send local produce in the lorries to the South, they added.
