After ‘Dasavataram,’ the steps Kamal has taken have made him slip. He started work on ‘Marmayogi’ and after budget hassles with producer Pyramid Saimira, the project had to be dropped and Kamal left to console himself.

In place of ‘Marmayogi,’ Kamal had to get himself another film and ‘A Wednesday’ caught his eye. This Hindi super hit featuring Naseeruddin Shah and Anupam Kher had to be altered slightly for Tamil but a Telugu producer said he had the rights with him. After a panchayat, Kamal acquired the rights.

Rajkamal International in collaboration with UTV started production work on ‘Thalaivan Irrukkindran.’ When many commented about the title not being catchy enough, it was decided to change it to ‘Unnai Pol Oruvan.’ Many years back, a film of this title was directed by Jayakanthan and did well.

The shooting for ‘Unnai Pol Oruvan’ started in Hyderabad yesterday.
