The coercion of the Canadian government withdrawing the release of a statement just because the Canadian Tamil demonstrators refused to lower the Tamil national flag, considered as pro-LTTE flag by the government, is a part of the international conspiracy to break down the Eezham Tamil liberation struggle by isolating and dealing with the three components of the struggle, i.e., the LTTE, the TNA and the diaspora, said Varnarameshwaran, a Canadian Tamil Music Director. "The conspiracy is to abet Colombo to eliminate the LTTE leadership at whatever civilian cost, India to handle the TNA and the governments of the so-called international community to intimidate the diaspora. It is a three-pronged attack," he said.
"The feds have said as long as the protestors support the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) – a group the government considers a terrorist organization – and fly a flag they believe is the Tigers, the government will not address or meet with them", said Ottawa Sun, Wednesday.
Commenting further on the attitude, Mr. Varnarameshwaran said: "The IC is on one hand frustrated that the diaspora is backing the LTTE instead of playing stooges to its agenda, and on the other hand is knee-jerking at the uprising of the diaspora. Colombo’s diplomatic and propaganda machinery is now extended to demonise especially the second-generation diaspora uprising."
Further comments from Varnarameshwaran, a former music instructor at the University of Jaffna follow:
"There are some who try to cast an image that the diaspora youth uprising and the display of flags as mere orchestrations of the LTTE, and that’s why the IC is not responding seriously.
"But the blame is squarely on the IC, if the diaspora is not impressed by it.
"So far the IC has not come out with any solutions justifying the decades old struggle of the Eezham Tamils. Everybody knows that the Sri Lankan state has to be deconstructed for any positive solution, but what the IC is doing in practice is not only buttressing the genocidal state of Sri Lanka, but abetting the subjugation of Tamils in every possible form.
"When has the IC demonstrated, guaranteed or convinced the Eezham Tamils of its delivery of solution?
"As it stands now, it is obvious who are sticking to the basic aspirations of the Eezham Tamils.
"It is important that all the stakeholders of Tamil liberation, including the diaspora, to stand together at this juncture, in the struggle that is being waged globally now."
