The film industry’s Tamil Eelam Support movement has launched its campaign against the Congress.  The movement headed by director Bharathiraja has directors Seeman, Cheran, Ameer, Manivannan, R Sunderrajan, actor Vadivelu and poet Snehan.

Beginning from Kanchipuram from the day after tomorrow, the campaign will roll through Tamilnadu at Salem , Erode, Tiruppur, Sivaganga, Puducherry for a week.  Announcing this Bharathiraja told the press persons:

“We are beginning this journey from Kanchipuram where Anna pointed out the enemy of the Tamils.  The Tamil patriots of the film industry have come together to create political awareness among the Tamils, to identify the political force that is inimical to the Tamil interest and to drive the enemy and betrayers wholesale from the Tamil soil.  We are ready to reach out and deal with any trouble meted out to any Tamilian in any corner of the world and nip any inimical force against the Tamils in the bud.  We are in a sorry state to point out the Tamilian to the Tamils.

It is the wish of the movement to encourage the non-Tamils who live among us to participate in our problems and raise their voice in our support.  The purpose of this peaceful movement is to unite the Tamils, and hold a promise to the future that no political and economic plans can be enacted by any central government. This is only the expression of the struggle undertaken by the Tamils on behalf of the Tamils.”

When asked why this crusade against Congress alone and if the Tamilnadu government was right in its actions on the Tamil Eelam issue and why there was no mention of DMK, Bharathiraja said that the Tamilnadu government has become the victim of circumstances.
