Concerns over Sri Lanka ‘bloodbath’ – Channel 4

 

 

channel4_2 The United Nations condemns Sri Lanka’s war against the Tamils after heavy weekend shelling that reportedly killed nearly 400 people.

 

As Sri Lankan government troops near the endgame in their long war against the Tamil Tigers, the United Nations has described the situation in the north of the country as a "bloodbath".

And the US said it was concerned about an "unacceptably high level of civilian casualties".

After heavy fighting over the weekend, the UN said more than 100 children had been killed. And one doctor working in the war zone has said that nearly 400 people died as a result of shelling.
