TNA MP missing in Vanni

The Tamil National Alliance (TNA) has sought the intervention of the Speaker of the Sri Lanka’s parliament to locate its parliamentarian Mr.S.Kanagaretnam who was trapped in Vanni during the recent military operation launched by the Sri Lanka Army (SLA). Mr. Kanagaretnam was in contact until seven days ago with his fellow parliamentarians, and his whereabouts are unknown, TNA sources said.

TNA parliamentary group did not attend the opening event of the Parliament held Tuesday.

But latter it sought an appointment with the Speaker to discuss about the fate of Mr.Kanagaretnam who represents Jaffna district in parliament.

After failing to obtain an appointment, Mr.N.Srikantha wrote a letter to the Speaker Tuesday seeking his assistance to locate missing fellow parliamentarian.

Mr.N.Srikantha had told the Speaker that the TNA had lost its contact with Mr.Kanagaretnam since Friday.

“As the government has declared the Vanni region liberated fully we want to know the fate or whereabouts of Mr.Kanagaretnam urgently” said Mr.Srikantha in his letter, according to media sources.
