White van armed men abduct woman NGO staffer in Batticaloa

Unidentified armed men arriving in a white van abducted Thursday morning a woman employed in Seva Lanka Non-governmental organization in Vellaave’li area in Batticaloa district, sources in Batticaloa said. Two of the armed men spoke in Sinhalese and one in Tamil, the sources added.

The woman abducted is Nallathamby Rajeswary, 33, the mother of three children, according to her relatives.

The armed men abducted Rajeswary as she was going to Kaakkaachchivaddai village from her home.

Seva Lanka Colombo head office has been informed about the abduction while a complaint has been lodged with Vellaave’li police.
