Sri Lanka today warned that it will not hesitate to initiate legal action on the Sri Lankan Diaspora going against the country.

"Immediate action would be taken against them under the prevailing regulations and also action can be instituted against them under the Prevention of Terrorism Act, Emergency Regulations and the Penal Code," Sri Lanka Education Minister Susil Premajayantha said.

He said that in the case of expatriate Sri Lankans, they can be dealt with under the extradition law.

"If a crime is committed in one country and the perpetrator has migrated to another country, the government can request that particular country to extradite the convict, based on evidence available," he said.
