Seven Tamil youths reported missing in Batticoloa

Seven Tamil youths have gone missing in the Batticoloa district during June, and this has been reported by the relatives to the International Committee of Red Cross (ICRC), Police and the Human Rights Commission, sources in Batticoloa said.

On the 17th of June V. Jeniskanthan, 18, was forcibly taken from his home by unidentified persons in Mandoor.

On the same day, A. Sasikumar, 23, also of Mandoor did not return home after he left his house to attend to personal banking at the People’s Bank in Batticoloa town.

On the 18th of June, Sivarajah Mariathas, 29, of Ammanpuram, Senkaladi, and on the 22nd, Selliah Sasitharan, 23, of Ayaiththiyamalai were taken away by unknown men in a white van.

On the same day Sathasivam Ranjan, 26, and S. Perumal were abducted by unidentified persons.

Subramanium Sahadevan, 18, has also been feared abducted during the last week of June.

The whereabouts of the missing still remains unknown.
