UN Secretary-General Ban ki-moon has discussed the issue of local UN staff being detained in Sri Lanka.
The discussion took place when the UN Chief met President Mahinda Rajapaksa in Egypt on the sidelines of the NAM summit on Wednesday.
“In his meeting with President Mahinda Rajapaksa of Sri Lanka, the Secretary-General raised the issue of improvements in the conditions in the internally displaced persons camps, and also brought up the arrests of UN staff,” a UN spokesperson told reporters in New York.
