Sri Lanka Administrative Service Association (SLASA), while strongly condemning the arrest of Ki’linochchi Government Agent (GA), S. Vethanayagan, by Criminal Investigation Department (CID) officials on 30 July 2009, extended a public appeal to the authorities concerned to release him immediately, sources in Colombo said.

SLASA said in its appeal that Vethanayagam has served in the Sri Lanka Administrative Service (SLAS) for 20 years and more in civil administrative service and that his remarkable and dedicated service could be traced from the records in his personal file.

GA Vethanayagam, has been executing his duties as the GA of Ki’linochchi in cooperation with Sri Lanka Army (SLA) in Vanni, serving the Vanni people with utmost dedication to mitigate their misery, SLASA said in its public appeal.

The authorities should take into consideration the grief and anxiety of his two school going children and family, SLASA said in its appeal.
