Talented disabled get chances in films

image In the Bible, there’s a saying, “Magizhvithu magizh.” Tamil cinema directors have started doing just that.

In music concerts, you can see many a talented musician, bet it singers or accompanists, who hide behind dark glasses. The first person to use a blind artiste was Cheran. In his ‘;Autograph,’ he made a blind singer act in a song sequence.

In ‘Sivappu Mazhai’ that has made the Guinness Records, a blind singer sings and a blind female singer acts. Director Samudrakani has made a heroine of mute girl Abhinaya in ‘Nadodigal.’

Karunaas has joined the list of do-gooders. On a recent trip top Kanyakumari, he heard a very sweet voice. On close observation, he found that the singer Shamsuddin was blind.

Karunaas gave him his address and asked him to come to Chennai. He is producing ‘Ambasamudrathil Ambani’ directed by Ramnath. Karunaas has given Shamsuddin a chance to sing one of the songs penned by Vairamuthu for the film.

Our best wishes to Shamsuddin!
