Split in LTTE over goal of new government

Differences have arisen in the pro-LTTE Tamil Diaspora over the goals of the Transnational Government of Tamil Eelam (TGTE) proposed by the head of the LTTE’s international department, Selvarasa Pathmanathan, alias KP.

Radicals represented by the editorial board of www.tamilnet.com said on Wednesday that the basic document on the proposed TGTE sent out by the US-based lawyer, Visuvanathan Rudrakumaran, had not stressed that the Tamils’ goal was the formation of an independent Tamil Eelam in north-east Sri Lanka.

“The whole concept of transnational government will be misled if it is oriented merely with an idea of negotiation. It is not just a negotiation platform. There is no need to show Tamils have demcoratically dropped their aspiration just because some powers want it as a pre-requisite for negotiation,” it said.
