Election monitoring group’s website blocked in Sri Lanka

The Campaign for Fair and Free Elections (CaFFE) said Thursday that access to the group’s website www.caffe.lk has been blocked since Wednesday night. "The website was blocked subsequent to the display of photographic evidence of State resources being used for electioneering”, CaFFE said in a press release. The release said the access is blocked only within Sri Lanka indicating that the Sri Lanka-based Internet Service Providers (ISPs) have added CaFFE’s URL to blocking filters.

CaFFE site can be accessed from other parts of the world, according to CaFFE officials.

CaFFE is one of the election monitoring groups that collects complaints on election related violence and other violations in the southern province election scheduled to be held on October 10.
