Eastern Province CM unable to stop Sinhalese colonization – Ariyanenthiran

Batticaloa district Tamil National Alliance (TNA), P. Ariyanenthiran who was able to visit his constituency after three years Friday said that Sinhalese families from the South have been colonized in Choaliyaamadu village in Paddiruppu Regional Secretariat division in Batticaloa district. He told media that the Chief Minister of Eastern Province, though a Tamil, cannot stop traditional home lands of Tamils being colonized with Sinhalese families.

Choaliyaamadu is a traditional Tamil village located in the area on the boundary of Ampaa’rai district in Eastern Province.

60 Tamil families had fled Choaliyaamadu in 1990 due to Sri Lanka Army (SLA) offensives and now the Sinhalese families colonized by the government in Choaliyaamadu are putting up houses and shops, Ariyanenthiran said.

The displaced families from Choaliyaamadu are now living in places alien to them and government has not shown any interest in resettling them in their own village, he said.

Sri Lanka government is clearly bent on getting ridding of Tamils from their ancestral home lands in the Eastern Province and this is nothing but structural genocide of the Tamils, the MP pointed out.

Ariyanenthiran also said that he had come to his constituency without any security assistance from the government after three years.
