India invites Ranil Wickremasinghe for talks

Opposition Leader Ranil Wickremasinghe Sunday left for India on an invitation from the Indian government. Mr.Ranil Wickremasinghe is expected to meet Indian National Security Adviser R.K. Narayanan, Foreign Minister P. Chidambaram and Indian Opposition BJP leader Lal Krishna Advani on the current situation in Sri Lanka, sources in Colombo said.

Meanwhile, United National Party sources said that Ministry of Defence had refused to permit security personnel, even Ranil Wickremasinghe’s chief security officer, to accompany Mr. Wickremasinghe on his trip to India.
