The Lankan Defense Secretary Gotabaya Rajapaksa said here on Saturday that it was important to develop good relations with India to defeat the LTTE politically in the international arena and prevent its recrudescence.
He said that though the LTTE had been defeated militarily, it was politically active overseas. Some military cadres who had escaped were also active, he said.
“Their vast international network of sympathisers and criminal associates who funded and facilitated their separatist ambitions are still operating outside Lanka,” Gotabaya said. In this context, it was important to develop ties with other countries , especially India, he said.
