SLA refuses permission for IDP resettlement in Thenmaraadchi

Sri Lanka Army (SLA) authorities denied permission for the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) to resettle in their villages in Thenmaraadchi earlier occupied by SLA during war. Though SLA has removed its bases and men from the lands of the IDPs permission is denied saying that the lands are infested with mines, the IDPs said.

SLA had occupied Ezhuthumadduvaa’l South, Karampakam, Odduve’li, Thanangki’lappu and Ma’ravanpulavu near the SLA Front Defence Lines in Naakarkoayil and Mukamaalai in Thenmaraadchi.

However, SLA has reently allowed owners of the lands in the above places to see them.

Meanwhile, government in its report Friday said that IDPs from Puloappazhai East and West, Iththaavil and Pazhai, places which were earlier controlled by Liberation Tigers, will be allowed to resettle in January first part.
