India to give artificial limbs to war-affected in SL

Jaipur foot, India’s famous artificial limbs will soon find its way to war ravaged northern Sri Lanka to make 600 disabled walk again.

The limbs will be distributed at a month-long free medical camp in Jaffna soon. The project will cost Rs 15 lakh and as many as 600 people who lost their limbs in mine blasts and other war-related incidents will be provided the artificial ones.

Jaipur-based Bhagwan Mahaveer Viklang Sahayata Samiti (BMVSS) will provide the limbs at an average cost of Rs 2,000, "Reliefweb" , a UN body portal said in a recent report.
