Media persons need MOD clearance to visit Jaffna peninsula

Restriction on the travel of media persons to Jaffna peninsula via A-9 highway still remains, Director General of the Media Centre for National Security, Lakshman Hulugalla, told media in Colombo Wednesday.

The procedure applied to the media during and immediately after the end of war still remains.

Hence all media personnel need to get permission from the Ministry of Defence (MOD) to visit Jaffna peninsula via A-9 highway, Hulugalla added.

However, the regulation does not apply to civilians to visit Jaffna district from any part of island, he said.
