2 injured in clash between rival political parties in Ea’raavoor

A clash erupted Sunday around 9:00 a.m in Ea’raavoor between the supporters of ruling United People’s Alliance (UPFA) and opposition party supporters in which a UPFA supporter and the secretary of Sri Lanka Muslim Congress (SLMC) treasurer were injured, souces in Ea’raavoor said.

This clash took place in Ribaai Mosque Oaadaaviyaar Veethi.

One of the injured is Mohamed Thambi Thasthakeer, 33, a member of ruling UPFA party. He is admitted to Ea’raavoor District Hospital with injury to his head.

The other injured is Jamaldeen Mohamed Musthapa, 53, the secretary to the SLMC treasurer, Bashir Seku Davood. He is admitted to the hodpital with minor injury to his face.

The clash erupted and ended in fight when both parties were pasting election wall posters near Ribai Mosque.

A meeting was to take place in support of Sarath Fonseka, arrannged by SLMC party near the above mosque.
