JVP councilor house attacked, Fonseka party office burnt down

Unidentified armed persons believed to be supporters of the ruling United Peoples Freedom Alliance (UPFA) Wednesday, in two separate incidents, attacked the residence of a leading activist of the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) in Minuwangoda and burnt down the party office of the opposition common candidate General Sarath Fonseka located in Divulapitya, media in Colombo reported.

JVP made a complaint to the police said that the first incident took place at Udugampola Galpatha Junction when an armed gang raided the home of JVP Pradesiya Council member Anil Munaweera and caused extensive damage to property.

However no one was hurt in the incident.

In the second incident the gang burnt down a propaganda office belonging to the opposition’s common candidate General (retd.) Sarath Fonseka at Veediyawatte Junction in the Divulapitya police area, the spokesperson said.
