Lecturer, wife seek anticipatory bail from courts

A lecturer and his wife Friday sought anticipatory bail from Colombo Magistrate from being arrested by the Criminal Investigation Department of Sri Lanka Police for supporting General (retd) Sarath Fonseka in the recently held presidential election, legal sources in Colombo said.

Magistrate Mr. Lal Bandara Ranasinghe ordered the Officer in Charge of the CID to be present on the next date of inquiry and listed the case for further inquiry on February 12.

The lecturer, Chaminda Porage, who holds the post of Managing Director of a private institute, and his wife, in their anticipatory bail application, said both were being followed by unidentified persons and fear that they would be taken into custody.
