Alternate group meets in Jaffna to discuss reformation of TNA

Around 300 prominent persons including Tamil National Alliance (TNA) former parliamentarians Sivajilingam and Gajendran met Saturday at the Common Hall in Point Pedro Sivan Koayil to discuss the need to reform TNA as it fails to act according to its original principles, sources in Jaffna said. The representative of the Public Organizations in Jaffna peninsula and former principal of Point Pedro Hartley College, Sripathy, too participated in the meeting with several other representatives, the sources added.

The participants pointed out that TNA was being led by some of it members along other ways abandoning the already chosen noble path.

Ways and means were discussed in the meeting to bring TNA back to its noble path.

It emerged that some TNA members were responsible for TNA to leave the path chosen and ways of handling them were explored in the meeting.

Discussion on finding a leadership equivalent to TNA if those members do not cooperate to reform TNA was also taken up.

This meeting was precipitated by the rejection of many including Sivajilingam and Gajendran from participating in the forthcoming parliamentary election by TNA, the sources said.
