Foreign monitors to observe April general election

Fifty international monitors would arrive in Sri Lanka in the first week of April to observe the parliamentary elections scheduled to be held on April 8, PAFFREL Executive Director Rohana Hettitarachchi said. PAFFREL is one of the local election monitoring groups.

He added that he had discussion with the Commissioner of Elections Dayananda Dissanayake and made the request to bring in international observers.

The Commissioner of Elections agreed to the request and also assured that he would ensure a free and fair election.
