15 SLA soldiers arrested over journalist Lasantha Wickremathunge assassination

The inquiry into the killing of Lasantha Wickremathunge, Chief Editor of the Sunday Leader took a new turn with the arrest of fifteen soldiers of the Sri Lanka Army (SLA) who earlier served in the SLA Intelligence Unit. They are now being detained by the Terrorist Investigation Division (TID) and being interrogated, police spokesman told media in Colombo.

They were taken into custody in the last three days and the police took five telephone numbers of five SIM cards from them.

Police sources added that the telephone numbers had been used by those alleged to have been involved in the killing of Lasantha Wickremathunge that took place on January 9 last year at Attidiya in Colombo.
