UK Foreign Affairs Under Secretary arrives in Sri Lanka

British Permanent Under Secretary for Foreign affairs, Sir Peter Ricketts, arrived in Colombo Wednesday early morning on a two day visit, Colombo media reported. He immediately called on Sri Lanka’s Foreign Minister Rohitha Bogollagama.

Sir Ricketts had urged Colombo to allow humanitarian Non Governmental organizations to assist in resettlement of IDPs, according to media reports.

Sri Lanka Foreign Ministry did not give the reason for his visit but speculated that talks would also include the controversy over UK Foreign Minister David Miliband attending the meeting of Global Tamil Forum in London recently.

Sir Ricketts is expected to return to Britain Thursday.
