UNP files petition challenging Elections Commissioner’s conduct

The main opposition United National Party (UNP) general secretary Tissa Attanayake Wednesday filed a writ application in the Court of Appeal challenging the conduct of Elections Commissioner, Dayananda Dissanayake. The petitioner has sought an interim order of the Commissioner of Elections to inform court of any person or institutions that refuse to obey and respect guidelines in conducting elections.

The petitioner has also expressed his dissatisfaction over the conduct of the Elections Commissioner.
