100 arrested, 234 on the run for election related violence

About one hundred persons have been taken into custody for election related violence including intimidation and breaking election laws since nominations were handed over for the forthcoming general election and about 234 persons are evading arrest, according to Senior Deputy Inspector General of Police, Gamini Seneviratne, who is in charge of the Election Unit.

He further said the police had so far received some 187 election-related complaints from all sides of the political divide.
