SL Foreign Minister loses election

Minister Rohitha Bogollagama Sri Lankan Foreign Minister Rohitha Bogollagama, who was recently blamed for abusing his position by seeking a UN advisor job for his son has failed to secure parliamentary seat by preferential votes in the elections held on Thursday, media reports in Colombo said. SL Justice Minister Milinda Moragoda has also failed to secure a seat, the reports further said. Mr. Bogollagama has demanded a recount.

Mr. Bogollagama and Mr. Moragoda had crossed over to the UPFA from the UNP.

The Sri Lankan foregin minister has recently described the UN’s move to appoint an expert panel on human rights abuses in the country as an intrusive unilateral initiative against Sri Lanka.
