SLA blocks public visiting Pirapaharan’s house in Valveddiththu’rai

Sri Lanka Army (SLA) authorities in Jaffna deny permission to public visiting the house at Aaladi, Valveddiththu’rai (VVT) in Vadamaraadchi where the Leader of Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) Velupillai Pirapaharan was born and raised. It has become an important tourist attraction for the people from South and foreign tourists who pour into Jaffna peninsula after the opening of A9 road, sources in Jaffna said. Meanwhile, SLA authorities have set in course the secret destruction of the remains of LTTE leader’s house, civil society organizations in Valveddiththu’rai said.

SLA sentries posted at Aaladi in VVT do not allow anyone to visit Mr. Pirapaharan’s house which had been severely damaged during the war.

People who come to see this house take snaps with the house as the background and it has turned into a place tourist must visit in Jaffna peninsula.

The Sri Lanka government which is bent on obliterating whatever that remains in memory of LTTE has destroyed several memorial monuments and tombs of LTTE cadres.

The destruction of LTTE leader’s house by the government is carried out by the SLA in stages and in secret during nights from the backyard of the house, VVT sources added.
