Britain’s Conservative party wishes Tamils on New Year

Wishing British Tamils on the occasion of the traditional Tamil New Year, the main opposition Conservative party, in a statement by its leader, David Cameron, welcomed the contribution the Diaspora has made to the United Kingdom and hailed its values of family, community, enterprise and responsibility.

“On behalf of the Conservative Party, I would like to extend my warmest greetings to everyone celebrating the Tamil New Year,” Mr. Cameron said.

“The British Tamil community have made a great contribution to life here in Britain – and that contribution is built around some important values: family, community, enterprise and responsibility. These same values are shared by the Conservative Party.”

“So as you gather with your families and friends to celebrate this important festival, I would like to send you and your families my very best wishes for the New Year.”
