Fonseka can attend parliament: Gotabhaya

The Secretary General of the Sri Lanka’s parliament Wednesday received a letter from Gotabhaya, the Sri Lankan defence secretary, stating that General (retd) Sarath Fonseka can attend parliament and take oaths as parliamentarian.

There is no impediment to Fonseka in attending the opening session of the seventh parliament elected in the election held on April 8, Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapakse stated in his letter.

Fonseka will be escorted to the Sri Lankan parliament complex by the Sri Lanka Army to attend the inaugural sitting of the House scheduled to be held on April 22 Thursday, sources said.
