SLA protection provided to Chaavakachcheari magistrate’s residence

On instructions by Judicial Service Commission and Justice Secretary to Jaffna Superintendent of Police and Sri Lanka Army (SLA) Jaffna Commander, military protection in addition to police protection is provided from Friday to the residence of Chaavakachcheari Magistrate, P. J. Pirabakar’s residence in Paa’ndiayan Thaazhvu in Jaffna in the context of allegations reported to Chaavakachcheari Court by Paandiyan Thaazhvu residents against two key men of Eelam People’s Democratic Party (EPDP) for trespass into Magistrate Pirabakar’s residence more than two times with the intention of issuing death threats or to kill him, sources in Jaffna said.

Magistrate Pirabakar Friday directed Chaavakachcheari police to investigate into the allegation against Jaffna Deputy Mayor Thurairajah Ilango alias Regan and Allexander Soosaimuthu alias Charles, Eelam Peoples Democratic Party (EPDP) organizer for Thenmaraadchi made by the Paa’ndiayn Thaazhvu residents.

Residents of Paa’ndiayan Thaazhvu had seen Regan and Charles trespassing into Pirabakar’s residence with weapons when he was not at home and had reported the matter to Chaavakachcheari Court.

Magistrate Pirabakar Monday 29 March had directed the police to arrest (EPDP) member Jeevan, the prime suspect in the abduction and killing of student Thiruchelvam Kapilthev in Chaavakachcheari and ordered action to be taken to prevent the suspect leaving the country.

One of the fellow students of the victim arrested and detained had said in his statement to police that the said Jeevan was the key person in plotting the abduction and killing of Kapilthev.

Jeevan, who had been a member of EPDP for eight years has been attached to Nu’naavil EPDP camp in Thenmaraadchi.

Magistrate Pirabakar has been firm in dealing the case of abduction for ransom and killing of student Kapilthev pressing the police to immediately arrest the suspects.

One of the suspects, Jeevan, had been staying in the EPDP Nu’naavil camp in Thenmaraadchi for which Allexander Soosaimuthu alias Charles had been in charge of.

Investigations into the abduction and killing of Kapilthev reaching crucial stage has caused the said two EPDP key men to stop Magistrate Pirabakar from taking legal action against the prime suspect in the case, sources in Chaavakachcheari said.
