Nirupama to inaugurate conference on Sri Lankan peace

Indian Foreign Secretary Nirupama Menon Rao will be inaugurating an international conference on ‘Taking the Sri Lankan Peace Process Forward’ in New Delhi, scheduled on May 10 and 11. The conference will be participated by experts from Sri Lanka and representatives of Sri Lankan Tamil diaspora, media reports said.

The business covered by the conference are: ‘Taking Rehabilitation and Resettlement Forward’, ‘Thirteenth Amendment and Beyond’, ‘Roles of Sri Lankan Tamils, Other Minorities and Diaspora’, and the ‘Role of India — and for Others’.

The conference is organized by an Indian think-tank Observer Research Foundation in New Delhi.

As long as India progresses in grabbing opportunities in the island without hindrances, and as long as it is not seriously challenged by Tamil Nadu, it will not stop beginning discussions with the joke of 13th Amendment and then going ‘beyond’ by de-linking the North and East, commented media circles in Colombo.
