China Vice Premier to visit Sri Lanka

Vice Prime Minister of the State Council of the People’s Republic China, Zhang Dejiang, is to pay an official visit to Sri Lanka from June 10 to 12. He will be leading a thirty member delegation, Sri Lanka’s External Affairs Ministry said in a press release.

During his stay in Colombo he will call on Sri Lanka’s President Mahinda Rajapaksa, Prime Minister D.M. Jayaratne and Speaker Chamal Rajapaksa.

Vice Premier Dejiang was an alternate member of the 14th CPC Central Committee and a member of the 15th CPC Central Committee. He was also a member of the Politburo of the 16th CPC Central Committee and Secretary of the CPC Guangdong Provincial Party Committee.

He is currently a member of the Politburo of the 17th CPC Central Committee as well as the Vice – Premier of the State Council.
