Hundreds of people attended the opening of the memorial monument for the war victims in Vanni and the unveiling of the monument erected in memory of Father Jeeva.

This monument is perhaps the first one of its kind to be erected in Vanni or in the North while Sri Lanka Army has erected many memorial monuments in Vanni celebrating its victory in the war on Vanni.
