Sri Lankan Cabinet to meet in Kilinochchi

The Sri Lankan Cabinet, headed by President Mahinda Rajapaksa, will meet in Kilinochchi town, the erstwhile administrative headquarters of the LTTE, in the second week of July.

It is part of a decision to hold the weekly Cabinet meetings in the districts. Cabinet meetings are normally held at Temple Trees — the Presidential Palace — in the national capital.

According to Cabinet spokesman Keheliya Rambukwella, the Cabinet meeting at Kilinochchi would coincide with the launch of a mobile service to address the grievances of the people in the district.

Separately, Tamil United Liberation Front (TULF) leader V. Anandasangaree criticised the reported move of the Sri Lankan government to accept the offer of assistance by K. Pathmanathan and eight other ex-LTTE leaders.
